Becoming A Sports Marketing Agent

IN the beginning of becoming a Sports Marketing Agent for Checkmate Sports LLC.

July 28, 2021:

I was online social media looking through IG and I came across Edward Davis saying he was an NFL Agent and that his client played for the “Indianapolis Colts”. When I read the post I immediately called his bluff perhaps knowing I am a Colts Die-hard fan! We begin speaking back and forth about his client and what he does. I became very interested in how Edward was currently an NFL Agent. I watched another video about Edward Davis and this time it was the famous Icon and Rap Mogul Master P better known as “Percy Miller”!

IF you wanna become a Sports Marketing Agent come holler at my boy Edward Davis and when I seen that video. It changed everything. Master P speaking about the same Edward Davis that I was debating about a Colts player with just earlier in the day. I was excited in ways people wouldn’t understand. After listening to Edward Speech on how to become a Sports Marketing Agent. I was ready to join without hesitation! On top of me already watching the video with Master P, Ray Lewis who played for the (Baltimore Ravens) also spoke good words about Edward and I was SOLD.

First, the beginning of the Masterclass was about teaching you the basics of becoming a Sports Marketing Agent.

Aug 1,2021:

Today is the day I joined Checkmate Sports LLC and my excitement of becoming a Sports Marketing Agent in under 30 days. I really didn’t believe that you could become this in less then 30 days. I thought of being a hoax or something else not believing other than the truth. The online classes were very important because it gave the class members online access to very important information.

Sept 2, 2021:

This was a special day for me and I couldn’t wait to express my true gratitude for the hard work, accomplishments and time put into the program. We have online class Monday at 6pm, Tuesday at 7pm and Wednesday at 5pm with Thursday and Friday to ourself. We are giving homework at times with the opportunity to take notes during those times of class. Learning a new curve is always fun! I have experience in playing sports and being a agent is something that I wanted to do.

I signed my first client today and talk about being on cloud nine. I was so excited and ready to start this journey with Checkmate Sports. Edward is the Founder of Checkmate Sports and he has people that work with him alongside to help balance the structure of Checkmate Sports. Derrick Williams who is the first online speaker gave the class insight on how to balance your life of becoming a agent and the things you need to do in order to keep value to your name and Checkmate Sports. The importance of making a “Deck Pitch” for your clients becomes favorable for your status.

Then we have the lovely Sara who gives the program a mental edge because she deals with the emotions of becoming a Sports Marketing Agent. We have the 8 points of the Growth which teaches the online class how to manage your time, what’s important, time management, and other details that follow. The class members make it a pleasure to be online with different people from various places in the United States.

The Journey has been cool in so many words. I have had good and not good days. I do not call them bad days when bad has a different meaning behind it. I like to say not good or it can be better when days are gloomy. IN the process of becoming this sports marketing agent I have built many relationships and gave varies advice when needed.

Being a Sports Marketing Agent helps give back to the client with all purposes to help empower and create a positive atmosphere. You get to do lots of exciting phone calls with business and corporations. Some of the phone calls are based on partnerships not (DEALS). Getting deals for your client comes with the understanding of taking the masterclass and completing the class so that you can engage in more solid conversations when completing deals.

COLTS NFL TRAINING CAMP: DAY 1

Were just gonna jump right into it!

(TY Hilton #13 in front with 6’5″ (Rookie) Mike Strachan #17 looks on before the “Follow the Leader” drill.

The Indianapolis Colts opened up training camp right outside Westfield, IN, on a hot muggy wednesday. Head Coach Frank Reich was not in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions. Although the league has tighter guidelines this year, they’re still required to get the shot before the season starts. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has encouraged all 32 teams to get updated or fail to serve with your team.

All the codes are clear about the backpack policy/clear bag will be in affect at all Training Camps. The season starts today and having practice open to the public after a long year layoff, can add to excitement to another fantastic year of Colts football. If you recall the Colts traded two draft picks to the Philadephia Eagles for Quarterback Carson Wentz, who will be re-united with Head Coach Frank Reich.

The departure of Jacob Brissett to the Miami Dolphins making room for the Colts number of QB’s. Sam Ehlinger, Jalen Morton and Jacob Easton are fighting for the number 2 spot to back up Carson Wentz. The NFL Draft came with some exciting new players who showed up today with the will to understand this game we call the NFL.

Michigan’s DE Kwity Paye will make an impact his first year being a leader and defensive nose runner. His style and play reminds you of Hall of Famer “Robert Mathis” who happens to create havic on opposing Quarterbacks.

A heathly TY Hilton can give any Quarterback smiles throwing to this barn-burner. Last years stats for TY wasnt the All-Pro best season-762 yards total, 93 receptions, only 11 big plays were made from Hilton coming off ankle injury/surgery a year ago. We can imagine the numbers he will produce this year with a more mobile Quarterback.

Jonathan Taylor second round pick number 41 coming out of Wisconsin and 2x Doak Walker Award (2019, 2018) shown the NFL what he can do when the ball is in his hands. Not only did Taylor rush for at least 1,110 yards from scrimmage becoming only the seventh rookie in the league to accomplish this – scoring at least 10 rushing touchdowns for the colts. With Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines returning with the addition of a fresh healthy Marlon Mack who is another 1,000 yard rusher.

The defense looks solid and even better than last year only losing a few peices of the puzzle and not to mention engaging in good Draft picks GM Chris Ballard and staff made. Looking forward to an exciting year covering the colts and Head Coach Frank Reich.

MIZZOU Basketball: JArron Coleman “IM COming for MINES!”

In the wake of a new basketball season, amid the COVID-19. Indianapolis IN native Jarron Coleman maintains his focus to make his dream a reality. That’s the opportunity to play professional on the next level in the NBA. If you don’t recall his name of silky style play.

We call him by another name, “Boogie”. His game is something special that you have to witness with his 6’6″ frame and long wingspan.

Indiana Basketball, Pike Elite, Lincoln Basketball, 2018 Prep Ball Stars, 2018 IBCA/Subway Senior All State, 1000 points scored at Cathedral High School, on the cover of Hoosier Basketball, Indy Heat Gym Rats and this is just a few leagues in which Jarron took part in.

Learning the game at an early age was put on him by his father Jarron Coleman Sr. His father an athlete back in the day but nothing compares to the amount of work, training and getting good food nutrients that Boogie has maintained.

Playing for the Cathedral Irish which is a Catholic School, located on the Northeast Side of Indy. Coleman’s stat sticks out like a sore thumb. Was ranked the No. 7 player in the state of Indiana 2018 Class. He also Guided Cathedral to a City Tournament Championship.

The numbers speak for themselves earning Indiana recognition while averaging 17.2 points, 4.1 assist and 2.5 steals as a senior.

I had an opportunity to watch Boogie play in high school and at Ball State his Freshman year. A slasher that can create his own shot. He can beat you off the dribble. He can post you up with his long 6’6” frame and he knows what to do with the basketball once it’s in his hands. Becoming a consistent scorer is a norm for Coleman but he understands to use that against tough opponents.

By redshirting his very first year of playing college basketball (Ball State) was a mind set at first but then realizing the importance of getting stronger and understanding the tough physical play at the College level. Coming back into the program the next year gave more insight on how the game is to be played.

2020 Mac Freshman of the Year for the Ball State Cardinals. Played in 44 games that year averaging 10.6 points, 4.9 rebs with .373 behind the 3-point line.

Now there was some ups and downs as this journey continues for Boogie, but nothing that would keep his mind off basketball. When he broke his foot in practice. He thought about everything he worked hard for, thought about his siblings, father and mom. At this point the motivation was the key factor in bouncing back with a vengeance to prove himself once again.

I had a chance to speak with Jarron Coleman during this summer and he assured me that this season would be a special one. He’s feeling healthy and now with the transfer to MIZZOU.

The Sec is something Boogie dreamed about playing in against the tough team’s night in and night out. One thing is certain the “MIZZOU” Basketball team will have a legitimate scorer in Jarron “Boogie” Coleman

Cincinnati “Mike Saunders Jr” continues to show signs of flashy point guard skills

Cincinnati Bearcats- #(3) Mike Saunders Jr…

Where do I start or where should I begin. It all started back in 1987 when I first met his father Mike Saunders attending Westlane Middle School. We both like to play basketball and played on the 7th and 8th grade basketball team.

We have had a solid relationship for over 30 years without any arguments or fights or anything negatively. I like being around Mike because he was a good basketball player and he was left handed. He always would tell me in order to be a good player you gotta be able to go left and right.

As time past we also attended North Central High School from 1989-1993, but neither one of us played there and I don’t know why. It seemed like if you were in the system since 7th grade, you had a better chance of getting selected for the team.

After completing High School, Mike Saunders moved to California with his Uncle Freddy to start a new chapter of life. Their is where he met the love of his life (Nicole Saunders) and they fell in love and you know rest of story.

Moving back to Indianapolis with his new wife (Nicole) Mike Saunders Jr was born and I already knew what was becoming of the young man because of how skilled his father was. Mike Saunders Jr came into the world knowing what he wanted to be at an early age.

With major influences and family member (George Hill) NBA . The sky was the limit for young Mike at an early age. Playing in various competitions with championships to show, growing up playing the game he loves. The speed of game became easy for Mike because of the hard work and dedication put into his craft.

Showtime Arnett & Mike Saunders Jr.

The quickness and ability to move so fast on the court is (Mike Saunders Jr) the ability to play within yourself and the system the coaches ask of you. Now, fast forward to today’s modern day and playing NCAA Division Basketball at Cincinnati means a lot.

Coach John Brannen recruited Mike when he was in the 7th grade and no wonder “Mikey” likes wearing Jordan name brand shoes. He was wearing them before becoming a freshman on campus and this fits his character just from knowing things about him.

He loves sneakers and so do I!! The nickname “Mikey” comes from Coach Brannen loving the kid he recruited to become the student athlete he is grooming to be.

Since the start of the season, Mike Saunders Jr has started off sluggish adapting to the College start but now that he is getting more playing time. He quickness is very noticeable to any team they play. It’s very hard to guard a person like that because he gets you going one way, just to cross you over to be on ESPN top 10 plays of the week!

Playing only 7 mins against UCF back on 2/14. Now being asserted into the starting lineup a couple of games. The numbers speak for themselves and 2 games Mike hit 100% from the 3pt line and I’ll take those percentages any day of week.

The true test for Mike was playing NBA Hall of Fame Penny Hardaway (Memphis Tigers) who last year seen there Big man James Weismann picked 3rd in the NBA to the Golden State Warriors. I had a chance to speak with Mike Saunders (Father) about the game, “Penny was talking crazy to my son about, he ain’t no guard, he can’t play”!

That fueled “Mikey” to showcase not only his quickness getting into the paint. But giving the opposing team (Memphis) a hard situation to deal with the Freshman productivity. Although getting his teammates involved early, the stat-line of having a career best (19pts) (3rebs) (2asst) (1stl) in 31 mins. Interesting stats would have better with a win and after the game “Mikey” spoke about not getting enough stops to complete the victory.

That was a break-out-game for (Saunders Jr). There’s more where that came from. Stay healthy during this pandemic!

IU’s Tracey Jackson-Davis

Consider waking up as a little kid and  dreaming everyday is Christmas. But for IU’s Preseason Big Ten Freshman of the year Tracy Jackson-Davis, being 6’9″ 245lb coming out of Center Grove High School, those shoes are big to fill and he’s the person /player IU needs to get back deep into March Madness.

Playing basketball is suppose to be the normality of the genes passed down to his son or daughter having there Father playing on a NBA Team. Most people aren’t lucky to have there father, uncle, brother or cousin playing college basketball to the level of competition.

It wasn’t hard for TJD for short to learn the game his father endured night in and night out on the NBA hardwood. You gotta consider the fact of a traveling father and having the advantages of watching on TV and seeing your father after.

Point being made helping Center Grove High School to a 21-9 record and a berth in the Class 4A state tournament semifinals. I had the opportunity to watch TJD his Sophmore year at Center Grove against mighty powerhouse Lawrence North (Mike Conley, Greg Odom) and LN guard Mike Saunders Jr could have ended the game with a winning drive to the basket, but his shot drew iron off the back of the rim and TJD grabbed the rebound with 2 secs left.

Let me tell you how everything went into slow motion as TJD turns around and hoist a 75″ from the opposite free throw line bank shot to win the game. I myself went hysterical because I have never wittness a game winning shot from that distance to beat a team like LN on the road in a hostel environment.

I knew right then this player was a special kind of kid. TJD finished his High School career having scored 1,802 career points. Also being a member of the Indiana Junior All Stars. Ranked 15th in the Country his Senior year and being named Mr Indiana Basketball.

Coming into Hoosier Nation would be a Christmas story in itself with all the tradition at Indiana and having the last undefeated team to win a NCAA championship (1976) with Quinn Buckner, Scott May, Kent Benson just to name a few.

Being named Preseason Big Ten Freshman of the Year TJD is off to a good start with the Hoosiers posting 28.5 mins per game, 15 (pts) 9 (rebs) 2 (blks) on 66% from the field and shooting 70% from the charity stripe (Free-throw).

Indiana record is 11-2 overall and 1-1 Big Ten Conference. Now the season officially kicks in playing good competition on a game to game basis. TJD will not only score in the low post, but abuse anyone smaller guarding him. You put a bigger man on him, that’s a easy one two blow-by!  Let’s see how TJD game levels up to the Mighty Big Ten Conference. Let’s Go Hoosier Nation!

It’s all about SHOWTIME!!!

Many wonder what it takes to get pictures likes these with famous Athletes. I have always had the ability to meet these types of people because I myself once was an athlete. Sometimes what you say to people can make or break a good relationship or friendship.

I have sometimes put myself in the line of fire because of what I might have said. My mother always told me, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it all.” It seems like I would hear that voice all the time due to my stubbornness and inability to understand the man I am.

My father played a very important role in my life because he showed me the way to create an identity for myself. Which means work hard, keep your mouth shut, eyes open and ears ready to listen! I never followed the crowd seemingly in ways to backlash my so called friends. I come from the Inner city of Indianapolis, the Southside I should mention with no regrets of how I was raised or lived!

In life we make choices that decide our fate or decisions that will make or break you. I have a strong faith in God without anybody having to tell me how great and wonderful he is. I’m very pleased and excited in which the direction I’m headed. The only thing that entered my mind are the senseless killings that plague the city and black community.

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you are, sometimes being at the wrong place at the wrong time can be fatal. I  believe my passion for Sports leads me into another direction of Faith! I love Sports and meeting various players and former HOF. I have so many stories I could write about that would make you wonder why I’m not on TV.

In closing, I’m very blessed to be here and I’m very lucky to own Showtime Sports Talk Show. The future holds no limits of expectations and I will work hard to get my goal accomplished!

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is a must see!!!

When you talk about the NFL Quarter backs in the league this year (2019-2020) notable players come to mind. Houston’s Deshaun Watson, Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers… But many are not even on Pace for what this young man has done already Into the 10 week of the NFL season!

Lamar Jackson Jr 6’2″ 212lb Quarter back who is taking the NFL into his consideration. Not only is he setting records and doing video games like moves on Sunday’s, but his character on the sidelines and charm in the huddle gives command the Baltimore Ravens and John Harbaugh high hopes on another Super Bowl.

Former Ravens LB and HOF Ray Lewis says, “Lamar attitude is great and he shows leadership and discipline, I tip my hat off to that young man. Man straight game-changer!” When you hear comments made by a HOF like “Lewis”giving props to Jackson it gives you support from one of your own former players that your’re doing what you need to do.

His game shows why the Ravens are at the Top of the AFC North with top-notch victories over the Packers, Chiefs and Patriots all teams who Vegas would have winning the odds to the Super Bowl.  Lamar is on pace to becoming the first QB in NFL history to have 3,000 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards in a season.

He already became the 1st QB with 2 perfect passer ratings. The Miami Dolphin game back on 9/08/2019 stats show: 324yds 5td 158.7 passer ratings and last weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals 223yds 3td 158.3 passer ratings. Now you see why back in College at the University of Louisville, Lamar was an All-America his Sophmore year along with winning the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award and Maxwell Award.

Humbly-submitted Lamar Jackson!

Playoffs- Sectional 7: North Central vs Warren Central (Rd4)

IMG_20190906_183250518Head Coach North Central (L) Kevin O’Shea confident about his teams opportunity!

When you talk about Indiana High School Football within the last decade. The Warren Central Warriors stand out with State Championship Banners and Rings. On Friday Nov 1, North Central Panthers Head Coach Kevin O’Shea feels good and excited about his team playing at home and against the Warriors. However, this will be another Power house program playing in the Sectional 7 first Rd matchup!

North Central (6-3) with key loses to Fishers, Warren Central and Ben Davis. This team had a chance to gain the conference title of the MIC for the first time in a while and the 1st title for Coach O’Shea in his 3rd year under the helm.

In order for the North Central Panthers to defeat the Warriors, it’s gonna take them being aggressive and attacking the line of scrimmage. The defense playing there reads and everyone paying attention and covering there spots and lanes. Sometimes it is better to let a sleeping dog lay because North Central has problems with these Warriors from the Eastside of Indianapolis..

Warren Central (6-3) as well with loses to  Ben Davis (2OT) and was shut out to the Carmel Greyhounds producing a big fat zero in the scoring department. Also staying alive and playing in the MIC when it’s playoff time the warriors win at all cost. Last years State Champs and looking forward to defending the crown.

Coach O’Shea Panthers are gonna have to rely on big play Senior (WR) Richard Hamilton who is in the top 3 in every category this year. He’s caring the team on his back and with a purpose. Last year, Trevon Elliott got the attention every time either one touch the ball.

Now fast-forward to his final year and everything is moving and grooving with Mr Hamilton. But with Senior (QB) Harry Abell in position to led the team. CAN his leadership on the field show the Warriors defense how it’s played. Only time will tell before this great football game takes place at North Central High School.

Fever Final Home Game…

IMG_20190908_170858_631

On a night where the Fever players were notching WNBA records and Franchise Records. Sunday’s final Fever home game against the Connecticut Suns proved to be a well played game in front of the Home Fans before moving to Butler Campus playing at Hinkle is the next move.

The Fever jumped out hot from the gate. Kelsey Mitchell was more than in a zone. She displayed shooting from behind NBA  3pt line… Her stats in the 1st Quarter were (6-7-FG) (4-5)3pt) and you can tell after her couple shoots went in. Mitchell was a flame thrower!!

Kelsey Mitchell set a Franchise Record with 38 (pts) and  broke the WNBA Record with nine 3-pointers

Allstar Erica Wheeler chipped in with 14 (pts) 6 (rebs) 6 (asst) . Connecticut played within the offense keeping it close and at one time during the game only trailing by 3 (pts) . That was the closest the Suns were able to catch ground on the Fever. Jonquel Jones another Allstar lead her team in the 1st half of play, but played limited during the 2nd half.

The Fever took this last home game by defeating the Suns 76 to 104. For more action and coverage leave any Questions or concerns…Thank you !

Undrafted All-Star to All-Star MVP…

Indiana Fever guard Erica Wheeler didn’t expect to be here in this league WNBA, but her hard work and dedication made her the 2019 AT & T AllStar GAME MVP. Her Teammate/Captain Candice Dupree told her she belongs in this league and numbers don’t lie people do!

Erica entered the game with high emotions because of the one thing we all cherish and love the most is our MOM. She wanted to show not only the world but her mom watching from the heavens that her babygirl turned out to be one hell of a basketball player.

In front of a large audience held at Las Vegas Center, Kobe Byrant was the main attraction center court with his daughter LaLa who is (13). Not only did Erica hit her first 6 shots but they were all 3 pointers and the leading scorer at halftime. This was a game of fun and excitement as Delle Donne Teammate Britney Griner took the stage with 3 dunks in a All-Star game and she leads all WNBA players with a total of 5 dunks in these games alone. A’ja Wilson was the captain for Erica Wheeler and Candice Dupree. Both players played well but Erica stole the spotlight.

Being undrafted coming into the league not knowing if your good enough only holds judgement to your actions. Erica found it hard to remain within herself after the passing of her mom. Her will power and self determination gave Erica enough juice to make a name for herself in this league.

Also in attendance was Fever player Betnijah Laney who came to Las Vegas to support not only Erica but Candice as well. Erica said that she wanted to be unforgettable after playing in the AllStar game and that she did. Playing overseas in Turkey, Brazil and Puerto Rico have her the dedication to keep pushing and stay grinding.

Erica Wheeler was invited to the WNBA  2015 from that point on was her carrying a chip on a shoulder. The chip denotes confidence and character coming from the speedy Guard outta Rutgers. Erica shot chart from the AllStar game

Wheeler shot 9-17 overall and from the 3 point area 7-13 finished with (25pts) (7asst) (4rebs) for the undrafted All-Star now MVP. On another note Candice Dupree was Erica biggest fan showing her love support and encouragement. It’s always nice to have a Veteran like Dupree who been threw moments like these and knows what to expect. Now the All-Star MVP will try to get the Fever back on track into the playoffs. The Fever play Atlanta Dream Wednesday.

Congratulations Erica Wheeler. You deserve it!!!

Were just gonna jump right into it!
